CSHL podcast up for a Webby Award (or two)

Pair of aces: Brian Stallard and Andrea Alfano, co-hosts of the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory podcast "Base Pairs," are up for a pair of Webby Awards.

A Long Island-based podcast is in the running for a top Internet honor – two, actually.

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory’s “Base Pairs” podcast, hosted by Andrea Alfano and Brian Stallard, has been selected as a finalist for the Webby Awards People’s Voice Prize and as a finalist for a Webby Award for Best Science and Education Podcast.

Presented annually by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, the Webby Awards denote excellence on the Internet.

Base Pairs,” which tells topical stories highlighting the power of genetic information, was selected by IADAS judges as one of five worldwide finalists in the sci-ed category and as a competitor for the People’s Voice Prize.

The academy received more than 13,000 entries from all 50 states and 70 countries, according to CSHL.

The public is invited to cast a vote for “Base Pairs” in the Best Science and Education Podcast category. Voting for the 22nd Annual Webby Awards ends April 19.
