ExcelAire soars to NJ and Caribbean, and stays put

By GREGORY ZELLER // It’s wheels-up at Ronkonkoma private jet firm ExcelAire, which has earned lucrative Cayman Islands approvals, added a high-flying VP and landed an expansion office at the country’s busiest aviation airport. The industrious Long Island MacArthur Airport-based boutique aircraft management and charter company has officially opened its third U.S. facility at northern New Jersey’s Teterboro Airport, which Aviation Week listed as the nation’s most-used aviation airport – catering to civilian operations ranging…

Molsbergen takes the stick at charter ace ExcelAire

ExcelAire has a new sky king. Former NetJets President Robert Molsbergen has been named president of the MacArthur Airport-based charter-jet manager, a subsidiary of worldwide aviation-services provider Hawthorne Global Aviation Services. Hawthorne President Bryon Burbage noted Molsbergen’s “deep private-jet aviation leadership experience,” not only heading NetJets – an Ohio-based Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary that brokers private-jet ownership deals – but in leading its executive jet management and global aircraft management divisions. “ExcelAire is well-positioned for our…

While the…

The jet, a derivative of Brazil-based Embraer’s ERJ 145 family of commercial airliners, was first introduced in 2002 and…

ExcelAire at 30: It’s been quite a ride

By GREGORY ZELLER // Overhauled business models, an industry-reshaping terror attack, a corporate takeover, shifting international regulations, ever-evolving technologies … nobody said 30 years would be easy. But they have been successful for Long Island MacArthur Airport-based charter-flight manager ExcelAire, which started life as Eastway Aircraft Services back in 1985. Eastway didn’t become ExcelAire until 1997, switching first to ExcelAire Service Inc. and later to ExcelAire LLC. Until then, the fixed-based operator focused on the…
