No. 36: Walter Stockton – Group Dynamics

Home runner: Walter Stockton, founder of the Independent Group Home Living Program and the Kinexion Network, has spent decades supporting Long Island's most vulnerable populations.

Walter Stockton was born, raised and educated in Pennsylvania – but Long Island is his home.

And thanks to his efforts, it’s home to thousands of developmentally disabled Islanders who might otherwise wind up in an institutional horror house, or worse.

The founder of the Independent Group Home Living Program and now the Kinexion Network, an umbrella management-service organization for a half-dozen major Long Island nonprofits, has spent nearly five decades improving residential opportunities and professional services for the developmentally disabled – through recessions, pandemics and an ever-changing political climate.

Walter joins Spark host Gregory Zeller to discuss the nobility of helping others, the criticality of helping the helpers and his brightest assessment of new independent-living innovations ahead.
