Byron: Playing it for laughs.
Mark Twain used that very true truism to define a good joke, adding this: “Power, money, persuasion, supplication, persecution – these can lift at a colossal humbug – push it a little – weaken it a little, century by century, but only laughter can blow it to rags and atoms at a blast.”
And then there’s Lord Byron, who noted, “Always laugh when you can. It is cheap medicine.”
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. On a planet darkened by war, disease and intolerance, we could all use a good laugh – so we hope you enjoy some real cachinnations today, even if you play the fool!
Happy April Fool’s Day from Marlene and Gregory.
