Two Long Island firms – longtime collaborators, each a stalwart of LI business law with a particular set of skills – have raised a new flag.
But Jericho-based law firm SilvermanAcampora LLP and Jericho Quadrangle suitemate Portnoy, Messinger. Pearl & Associates Inc., a professional human-resources consultancy, won’t be going anywhere, even though they’ve been absorbed by San Francisco-based global law titan Rimôn P.C. – SilvermanAcampora by fiat, PMP by association.
Reuters reported Monday that Rimôn had “absorbed” business-and-accounting expert SilvermanAcampora and its 10-attorney staff, giving the California firm – which operates in Canada, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and the Asian Pacific and boasts associates in 27 U.S. locales, including a swanky Park Avenue address in Midtown Manhattan – a Long Island foothold.
The Reuters article does not mention PMP. But the human- and labor-relations specialist, a longtime SilvermanAcampora confrere, is definitely part of the deal: Both the law firm and the HR consultancy have “proudly adopt[ed] the Rimôn P.C. brand” as of Monday, according to a statement from PMP.

Mark Portnoy: It’s who you know (and collaborate well with).
Niceties like new titles are still being finalized, noted PMP Chief Executive Officer Mark Portnoy, but longtime clients can expect both Long Island firms to continue their independent expertise and fruitful collaborations – and to remain in Jericho for the foreseeable future.
“We’re still working out all of the structures together … but no relocations,” Portnoy told Innovate Long Island.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Reuters cited Rimôn’s deeper bench for New York-based U.S. district bankruptcy court litigation and framed the unification as an indication of a busy law firm merger season ahead.
The article also referenced a Rimôn hiring spree, with Rimôn Chief Legal Officer T.J. Henry noting a firm in “growth mode” and sharing high praise for a SilvermanAcampora staff that prizes “people, culture and quality.”
Of course, the unification also signals bright days ahead for the circa-1999 Jericho law firm, according to SilvermanAcampora Founding Partner Anthony Acampora.
“Uniting our strengths and core philosophies, SilvermanAcampora and Rimôn create a synergy of legal excellence poised for boundless success,” Acampora said. “This combination marks a pivotal moment in SilvermanAcampora’s journey, where our collective expertise and diverse perspectives come together to offer our clients even greater value, innovative solutions and unwavering commitment to their legal needs.”
And the merger is a boon for the well-respected, 60-year-old HR consultancy next door, which has teamed up repeatedly with SilvermanAcampora for Monday Morning Coffee Talks, training seminars and other educational workshops.
“We’ve had a very good relationship that’s developed over the years,” Portnoy noted Tuesday. “[The merger] opens up lots and lots of opportunities for both firms to meet new clients and have interesting new work.
“We’re now all part of the Rimôn company,” he added. “From our standpoint, that’s fantastic.”
