It’s no given thing that her differences can’t destroy America.
That the things that divide us won’t overwhelm the things that bring us together.
But if we stick to the plan – centralized thinking, a little from Column A, a little from Column B – you’ve got to like our chances.
Except for maybe Norway, no nation is perfect. But when it’s working right – when inefficient leaders are voted out peacefully, in favor of new ideas, and iconoclasts are relegated to the fringe, where they belong – the USA is hard to beat.
Embrace our history, the good and the bad, and learn from it.
Be grateful for freedom, which we say is a right but is really a privilege, one not shared by all global neighbors.
And for one day, at least, maybe even the whole week, put the politics away and just be good Americans – with liberty and justice for all.
Enjoy the holiday week … and for goodness sake, celebrate responsibly!
