From the Good For the Goose/Good For the Gander File comes mighty healthcare conglomerate Northwell Health, which normally lends its name – and significant funding – to other organizations’ facilities, but this time is welcoming the contributions of a corporate sponsor.
Jovia Financial Credit Union has announced a multiyear partnership agreement with the New Hyde Park-based health system, with Jovia being named the “Official Credit Union Partner” of the Northwell Health Ice Center.
Financial terms of the collaboration were not disclosed. But Jovia will be the presenting sponsor of in-house youth hockey programs at the state-of-the-art Ice Center, located in East Meadow’s Eisenhower Park.
The youth hockey programs – including house leagues, summer camps and skills clinics – cater to young players ages 5-13 and represent a unique marketing opportunity for the Westbury-based credit union, according to Chief Marketing Officer Renu Delassandro.

Renu Delassandro: Passion play.
“Young people’s passion for playing hockey is growing by leaps and bounds,” Delassandro noted. “Jovia is excited to be a part of it by partnering with Northwell Health Ice Center to sponsor its in-house youth hockey programs.”
The 175,000-square-foot Ice Center is the official practice facility of the National Hockey League’s New York Islanders and the base of many regional youth travel-hockey programs, as well as home ice for several area high schools and men’s and women’s hockey programs at Farmingdale State College and Long Island University.
In addition to two NHL-regulation indoor ice rinks and one outdoor rink, the facility – which offers a bounty of ice-skating classes for less-advanced blade runners – also includes a gymnasium, a training room, sports therapy/rehabilitation services and a ready supply of skating equipment. Jovia’s sponsorship includes marketing materials strategically placed throughout the facility and a Jovia Financial Credit Union automatic teller machine “positioned conveniently in the main lobby,” according to a credit union statement.
Representatives of the circa-1938 credit union – which boasts more than $3.8 billion in assets and 200,000-plus members – will also drop by the Ice Center occasionally to “interact with families, provide information about Jovia’s services and promote financial literacy,” the statement added.
The center is “very excited” to welcome Jovia as its Official Credit Union Partner, according to Christopher Lombardo, the Northwell Health Ice Center’s vice president of partnerships.
“Jovia is such a big supporter of giving back to the local community,” Lombardo added. “We are proud to team up with them to support youth hockey on Long Island.”
