Northwell Health celebrated the opening of its newest and most expansive orthopaedic institute this week.

The Northwell Health Physician Partners Orthopaedic Institute at Huntington was officially opened with a Jan. 19 ribbon-cutting ceremony. The state-of-the-art, 5,000-square-foot practice specializes in general orthopaedic surgery as well as foot and ankle surgeries, according to the New Hyde Park-based health system, New York State’s largest healthcare provider and private employer.

The $1.5 million institute – the health system’s 11th satellite orthopaedic facility on Long Island – also features a cutting-edge Carestream digital-imaging system, according to Northwell Health.

The health system’s Department of Orthopaedics is “proud” to cut the ribbon on a new orthopaedic practice “in the heart of Huntington,” noted Nicholas Sgaglione, Northwell Health’s chairman of orthopaedic surgery and an orthopaedics professor at the Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine.

“Our professional team of physicians and staff are dedicated to providing the highest-quality orthopaedic care as well as comprehensive musculoskeletal services to all of our patients and members of the community,” Sgaglione said in a statement.

William Healy III, an orthopaedic strategic initiatives director with Northwell Health Physician Partners, said the new Orthopaedic Institute would expand Northwell’s orthopaedic services into the sports medicine and “upper extremity” practice areas.

“We look forward to meeting the needs of the community in 2017 and for the years to come,” Healy said.
