Canon inks deal for BlackBerry charger tech

Canon has reached a deal to license BlackBerry’s patented power-charging technology, which works with mobile devices and a range of consumer electronics. IGT, a Nevada-based gaming- and lottery-system IT specialist formerly known as International Game Technology, will also get access to the technology, the companies announced. IBM tops patent list for 23rd straight year

IBM was awarded the most U.S. patents in 2015 – for the 23rd consecutive year – as the company pushed into cognitive computing, which uses machine learning and data analytics technologies to help businesses predict consumer behavior. Melville-based Henry Schein was added S&P 500 this week in recognition of the healthcare products distributor’s market capitalization, which now ranks among the 500 largest companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange or NASDAQ. The firm’s market capitalization was about $11.5 billion – the largest for a Long Island-based firm.
